Purple Day For Epilepsy – March 26

Purple Day for Epilepsy is on Tuesday, March 26. St. Agnes is hosting its second Social Justice fundraising initiative in support of Epilepsy South Central Ontario. Epilepsy is characterized by recurrent seizures and affects people of all ages. Approximately 1 in 100 Canadians have epilepsy.

Spirit Team is asking every student for a small donation of $2 through cash online.  We ask all students to wear purple clothing, hair accessories, or ribbon. Participating students may bring gum to chew in the morning. Decorate your class with purple and take a picture to enter the “Win a Pizza Day” contest!  CTV News will visit St. Agnes School.

Notice of Construction

As you may know, for the school months of April, May and June, Neilson Avenue will be under construction. The contractor, Terracon, is planning to commence construction the week of April 8th, 2019

There will be no traffic or parking allowed on Neilson Avenue. School bus drop off and pick up will take place on Bluevale Street from April 8 to the end of June. As busses will be parked on the school side of Bluevale St, parents who park on the opposite side of Bluevale St. at pick up time are asked to use the St. Agnes Church parking lot and then walk to the school to pick up their children. Parking on Bluevale St. will impede the flow of traffic and as such temporary no parking signs will be installed.

Also, please see below for a notice of public information (if interested):

Lost and Found

We have several tables in the main foyer area of lost and found items.  We will have the classes stop by the tables to see if they can recognize any of their property and take it home.  You are also welcome to stop by this week and take a look through, and claim you child’s items.

School Climate Survey

As part of the ongoing monitoring and evaluation of provincial, board and school policies, schools must conduct anonymous school climate surveys of students, staff, and parents at least once every two years. This year, our students will be completing the MDI Survey to fulfill this requirement and parents and staff will be using a provincially generated survey. Please also note that these surveys are voluntary and you can choose not to participate.

The Results of the survey will help us at St. Agnes to:

·         Assess perceptions of safety – from students, parents and school staff

·         Make informed planning decisions about programs to help prevent bullying and promote safe and inclusive schools

·         Determine the effectiveness of their programs on an ongoing basis

·         Build and sustain a positive school climate.

2019-2020 Budget Survey

Please find attached the link to the 2019-2020 budget survey.  The survey should take about 10 minutes to complete.  The Board values input from stakeholders and your feedback helps ensure that budgets are aligned according to the Board, school and stakeholder needs.

The survey will be open until March 27th, 2019.  The survey results will be made available after they have been presented to the Board’s Budget Advisory Committee.

Thank you very much for taking the time to respond to the survey.
