Hey St. Agnes,

Recently our class has been thinking about ways we could help our community. We had many good ideas but in the end, we decided to do a food drive. If you don’t know, a food drive is where you bring canned, boxed or any non-perishable foods and we collect them to donate them to the Waterloo food bank. The food bank then ships them off to organizations around the region and this can help those in need.

We had a representative from the Food Bank come to our class to explain their job, give some info and teach us what they do to make the world a better place. It was a very eye-opening experience, and we could see how important this food drive is. We are collecting any non-perishable food items as well as donations. We will be keeping track of classes that bring in donations and items. The class who brings in the most will get popcorn and movie time on a day of their teacher’s choice. We are working extremely hard to make the drive a success and we hope you can help us in any way you can.

These are the food banks most needed foods

  • Peanut butter
  • Canned fruit/vegetables
  • Rice
  • Canned meat
  • Pasta sauce
  • Dry beans
  • Canned beans
  • Cereal/Oatmeal
  • Stew, Chilli and Soup

If you would like to donate a dollar amount instead of bringing in a non-perishable food item, please use the following link to do so!

Hope you can help!
