Reminders and Remembrance Day

Good Evening Flames!
A couple of important reminders to share…
1. Picture Retake Day at St Agnes is tomorrow, Friday, November 11th, in the morning. This is for those students and staff who were not here for the original day or feel that the first photo did not get their best side!
2. For those families who borrowed Chromebooks for the two days of online learning, please return them to the school as soon as possible as they need to be put back into circulation for the students to use in the classroom.

Tomorrow is Remembrance Day and St. Agnes staff and students will be respectfully honouring the sacrifices of our veterans and those who serve our country striving for peace, as a community, at around 11:00 am.

“I wear a poppy red as can be
to show that I remember
those who fought for me.”

We pray for peace around the world and in our hearts.

Picture Re-take Rescheduled

Picture re-take day has been rescheduled to Friday, November 11th in the am.  If you would like your child’s picture re-taken, or if your child missed our initial picture day, please inform your classroom teacher.

Thank you

Parent and Caregiver Collaboration Group

There is a new opportunity for parents/ caregivers to have input on student mental health in Ontario!

School Mental Health Ontario (SMH-ON) has launched a new parent/caregiver collaboration group for the 2022-23 school year. The Parent and Caregiver Collaboration Group provides an opportunity for parents and caregivers to deepen their learning about student mental health and to collaborate with School Mental Health Ontario in updating and co-developing relevant resources and supports. This space will be one where SMH-ON can learn from parents and caregivers, where they can share their lived/living experiences, thoughts, and expertise regarding the needs of parents and caregivers to support and maintain their children’s positive mental health.

For more information and to apply, parents and caregivers can access this link:  New opportunity for parents and caregivers to have input on student mental health in Ontario – School Mental Health Ontario (smho-smso.ca)

Interested applicants are asked to complete the application by Sunday, Nov. 6, 2022.   Please direct any questions to Patricia Codner, Parent/Caregiver Engagement & Literacy Lead at School Mental Health Ontario (SMHO) at pcodner@smho-smso.ca

Labour Unrest- Chromebooks

As you may be aware, contract negotiations between the Canadian Union of Public Employees – Ontario (CUPE) and the Ontario government have yet to produce an agreement.

While we encourage both sides to come to a fair agreement, we do understand that the breakdown in talks could lead to a strike by CUPE as early as Friday, November 4.

As a result, the school board is currently planning for a switch to remote learning for our students, should that become necessary.

We are currently identifying students who do not have home access to the necessary technology and would therefore require a device provided by the school.

Please complete this quick survey (https://lf.wcdsb.ca/forms/APC052-05F) to help us prepare for distribution of devices to families who require this assistance.

Please complete this form prior to 1:00 pm today.

Thank you in advance for your patience as we work to ensure our students have the resources they need to continue learning during this uncertain time.
